New York, NY (December 17, 2007)—The International Association of Microfinance Investors (IAMFI) announced this month their selection of Kellen Company, a preeminent global professional services firm, as its full-service management company.
Recently founded, IAMFI’s goal is to attract sustainable, private sector investment to meet the capital needs of micro-businesses worldwide. The rapidly growing microfinance industry plays an important role in helping individuals create self-employment and lift their families out of poverty by providing loans and other financial services. IAMFI will serve as the key global organization to meet specific investor needs by providing credible industry information and a forum for discussion while improving microfinance environment.
"We are extremely excited to support this association in its important efforts," said Peter Rush, Kellen Company chairman and chief executive officer. "We look forward to applying Kellen Company’s well-established best practices in association management, marketing and public relations to assist IAMFI in accomplishing its goals now and in the future."
IAMFI will be managed out of Kellen Company’s New York City office where administrative, financial, interactive, marketing and public relations services will support the new association.
Joan Trant, IAMFI’s executive director, who has a strong background in finance and investing, as well as international business, has been tapped to lead the association. Ms. Trant has worked extensively with Latin American non-profit organizations and international donors to empower needy communities in Latin America. She will work closely with microfinance investors to ensure IAMFI is meeting their needs and fostering an environment for meeting and exceeding investment goals. Under her leadership, IAMFI will provide comprehensive and timely information on the microfinance industry, host events for members to address their interests and concerns and create an enabling environment for the microfinance investment community.
"IAMFI selected Kellen Company for its extensive expertise in association management and proven track-record in launching new organizations," said Trant. "We were impressed with Kellen’s knowledge of the industry and specialized and varied management experience and look forward to a long partnership."
