Kellen Company Guides Associations Through Increased Regulatory Activity

Group Vice President Ralph Vasami Addresses Audiences at Key Industry Conferences

NEW YORK, January 5, 2011 –- Kellen Company group vice president Ralph Vasami, Esq. recently addressed audiences across the country on product recalls and packaging trends at a number of key industry events.

At the 2010 American Conference Institute, Mr. Vasami, who leads a number of Kellen’s client trade associations, discussed the practical aspects of managing industry-wide product recalls.

“Industry-wide recalls have some advantages from a management perspective,” he notes.  “Dealing with an issue from an industry perspective, rather than by individual company, affords a more efficient and effective point of contact for regulatory agencies.  Moreover, an organization can establish a voluntary corrective action plan, so that there is one standard program or course of action for every party of interest and compliance with anti-trust law and governing association activity is ensured.”

“The reality of today’s environment is that regulatory activity is increasing,” added Mr. Vasami.  “Associations and individual businesses must be aware and equipped to respond to these new regulatory efforts as well as continue to add value in that process.”

Mr. Vasami, who also serves as the executive director of the PET Resin Association (PETRA) then spoke about the safety, flexibility and sustainability of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) at the 2010 InterBev Conference in Orlando.  And, at the 2010 Packaging Strategies conference in New Orleans, he discussed sustainable packaging solutions and material challenges for PET.
