JOAN R. CEAR
Vice President, Kellen Communications
As Vice President at Kellen Communications, Joan Cear is responsible for public relations, marketing communications, social media, integrated marketing and issues management programs for clients based in the New York City office.
Cear is a seasoned PR counselor and former journalist whose experience spans the range of pro-active and public affairs client programs, including consumer goods and services, trade and professional associations, educational institutions and non-profit organizations. Cear is recognized for developing communications programs that balance creativity with client budgets to achieve dramatic results.
Before joining Kellen, Cear was managing director at New York City public relations agency G.S. Schwartz & Co., Inc., where she led the consumer practice in both new business development and client management functions for a decade. Cear was previously president and owner of The Wachsman Cear Group, a New York-based PR agency that merged with G.S. Schwartz & Co. in 2001. Cear has held prior posts as a media relations specialist for Long Island Lighting Company, as public relations director for Registry Hotels and Resorts and is also a former print and broadcast journalist.
She currently serves as the pro bono president of New York Women in Communications (NYWICI) Foundation. Cear also serves as a PR advisor to Angel Flight Northeast, is a member of the board of trustees of Education Housing Services and is a former board member of Make-A-Wish Foundations of Metro New York, Peninsula Counseling Center and America Scores-New York.
Cear has a B.A. in Communications from the State University of New York at Oswego.
